One Horn

Well there is not much to say about One Horn...We got him from a couple that did not have any room for him. If you know of a good farm he could go to, please do tell.

Meet Millie

Millie has been with us for about 3 weeks now. She was not handled much at her other farm, so I have been trying to give her some extra love. I'm hoping she is going to kid soon (but not till the weather breaks a bit)

Lilly Last Day with us!

Lilly moved to a new Farm, this was her last picture. I do have to say I miss her bunches!

Mother Nature

Well Mother Nature gave use a beating last night…Our creek looked like the Yadkin River this morning, our road got washed out and the fence was washed away.. But I’m still glad I don’t live in the city….country living is for me!

Kory was able to get the fence back up and I was able to start digging the culvert out. I guess I don’t have to go to the gym this week. The shovel is going to work me this week.

I still can’t believe how much the creek has changed before too long you are going to be able to tube down it.

Saturday Mornings!

Up and at um this morning! I LOVE Saturday mornings! Everyone seems happy on the farm this morning it finally stopped raining. Barn is cleaned out with new shavings down, of course Tardy had to do his rolling around in the new shavings. I have got to get a picture of that J Moco has made friends with everyone. Millie is starting to come around still not eating with everyone hopefully by the end of the week.

Lowrider

Snow was up to Little Lowriders belly

Winter 2009

The Winter is upon us, I have to admit I do enjoy the Spring and Summer much more than the cold Winter mornings and evenings. My Dad has since been to the hay farmer twice for me over these last two months. The snow came in with a bang this year, I believe all the animals were a little in shock and stayed in the shed for 4 days. I finally invested in a heated water bucket no more cracking ice at 6:00 in the morning. :)

Shorty catching some fall sun rays

Shorty seems like she is feeling much better with Rogue around.

Going Rogue

Rogue is the new pup on the farm! Not sure how good of a farm dog she is going to be but she sure is a bundle of joy!

Tardy is all EARS

Do you think he will grow into his ears (I sure hope not)

Summer into Fall

Summer quickly turned into Fall down at Crooked Creek Acres.. I hate I did not take any pictures or the gorgeous fall leaves. All of the animals loved the cooler weather (fly’s finally went away) We went thru quite a bit of fly spray this year. We traveled down to Belews Creek Area and picked up my hay that I thought would get me thru January lasted me to the end of November. Yes I was off big time this year, should of realized I have two more donkey mouths to feed that I did not have last year.

Me and My Sweet Little Tardy

Tardy is the personality on the farm, I think he thinks he is a dog. He loves to be brushed and I really think he listens to me (yes he is a donkey) But a pretty awesome donkey at that.

Lilly 1st Bath

It was a warm sunny day, so yes I decided to give Lilly a bath. She seemed to enjoy the cool water.

Kory Building the Barn

Farm Living

Welcome to our Mini Farm in Pfafftown, NC. We are finally official Crooked Creek Acres!! This has been my dream since I was a little girl. My Uncle has a farm up in Mt. Airy NC and I always enjoyed going up on the weekends to see the horses, cows etc.. I guess that was what hooked me. Two years ago I decided the Simple Life is what I wanted and Kory my husband has always lived by that. So we started looking for a house with some land., we looked and looked and looked. We came across a cute little cozy home on 4 acres and we fell in love. (My Dad calls it our vacation home 365 days of the year)

Starting 2010 out with a bang! I’m super excited on what this year to going to bring; the farm is starting to come along. We started out with our cozy 1 bedroom home on 4 acres in October 2008, My loving husband fenced in 3 acres of our land and we got together some hard working family members to build a shelter for the animals! In December 2008 my Dad bought me two pregnant donkeys they were delivered the day after Christmas (What a awesome day).

After much waiting thru the Spring 2008 our first little Donkey was born on Easter Sunday her name is Lilly. Izzy her mom was a little protective of her but I was finally able to get my hands on her. After much more waiting Gerdy went into foal in June, my Dad named him the perfect name “Tardy” Tardy is a awesome little Jack almost full white, he has a great personality.

Two little pygmy goats were given to us, they are the little fixtures on the farm they just like to me fed and loved. We bought two Nubian Billy goats out of Madison sweet little guys, we just traded out one of the Billy goats with Kory’s Uncle for a Nanny Boer she is a cute little girl but not very tame but she is coming around. Out newest purchase down on Crooked Creek Acres is a Red Boer Billy named Moco and a Boer Nanny that is expecting soon. Can’t wait for the little kids to arrive.

Lilly was sold to a couple out of Richmond VA a couple of weeks ago, it was hard to let her go but I know she has gone to a wonderful family.

We are now members of the American Boer Goat Association. I’m hoping we can get the barn built by the end of the Spring so we can start raising a herd of goats
